About Tim Kubicek
Tim Kubicek was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 27th, 1950 and passed away on September 13th, 2007. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and later touched many lives through coaching soccer, softball, track, and basketball throughout the years. Tim enjoyed traveling with his family and being involved with RAGBRAI, the longest, largest, and oldest touring bicycle ride in the world, and he was an avid Atlanta Braves and Hawkeye fan. He was also a member of the Dyersville Lions Club and was Citizen of the Year in 2000. Above all, Tim was a loving husband and devoted father and a dear friend to many.
For the past 30 years, Tim immensely enjoyed the work and camaraderie he experienced at RC2. In his time with RC2, Tim occupied several positions and worked on countless projects, but it was in his role of managing the 1/18-scale American Muscle and Authentics diecast lines that he made some of his greatest contributions to the diecast hobby, helping RC2 produce what many collectors consider to be their finest 1/18-scale replicas to date. Tim always took the time to authenticate the details of whatever he worked on, no matter how small, and he was never too proud to ask for help when he needed it. Fueling Tim's admirable work ethic was an impressively strong desire to give collectors what they wanted. His dedication to the hobby will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
